I’ve had a pollen allergy since 2017, which is also the year I moved to Casablanca. I don’t think that’s a coincidence, but that’s a discussion for another time.
Every year, around March, I start taking medication to manage my runny nose and headaches. I usually continue this for at least three months, sometimes even longer. Then, year after year, I usually have to switch brands for the medication to remain effective.
I then found this article: Air purifiers are a simple answer to allergies:
I tried everything the doctors recommended for relief. But never once did an allergy doctor ask the basic question: What kind of air are you breathing?
It almost sounds too good to be true. Are you saying that if I have an air purifier at home, my allergy symptoms will disappear? Since allergy season was approaching, I decided to try using an air purifier and bought one from Ikea.
For the first time since 2017, I didn’t need to take any allergy medication. The air purifier actually worked!
At first, it felt like magic, and I thought it might just be a placebo effect. However, I confirmed its effectiveness over the entire three months.
Of course, this method has its limitations. As soon as you go outside for longer periods or travel, you’re back to square one. But that’s not really an issue—I simply took medication during those short periods.
What matters is that I didn’t need any medication for those entire three months—which is definitely a win!
