Building, exploring, growing.

The gap is widening

Software engineering is changing, and the gap is widening.

International experience and exposure to big projects used to give you an edge, and that’s still true. But there is something else going on. The AI revolution is on another scale.

Like it or not, a big chunk of your learning happens on the job. You used to be able to keep up if you worked on side projects, and that might still be the case, but the dynamic is changing.

I’m grateful and fortunate to work for a company that promotes the use of AI. If it weren’t for that, I would struggle to keep pace. As a software engineer, I feel that any company that doesn’t support AI usage is becoming a liability. Choose carefully—your future depends on it.

It’s been a while since I interacted with anyone on social media because I need to keep up; things are moving quickly.

If you sent me a message or email and I didn’t respond, I apologize. I wake up every day trying to extract as much value as I can from this alien tool.
